Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World? I was looking for comedy in this film and trust me it was not to be found! Bad, really bad!

Anyone who hopes to gain any insights into the world of Muslims will certainly not find them here in a movie with two glaring misstatements in its title -- as a 'comedy' it has very few laughs and the 'Muslim world" it purports to explore is mostly Hindu -- I've spent a good part of my professional career in Muslim-majority countries and know there is much humor there -- Egyptians, for example, are gtreat jokesters -- but none of this comes through in this feeble flic shot almost entirely in New Delhi. Don't waste your time/money on this bomb.

I don't see the point of making a moving about how everyone thinks you're not funny and then to actually prove them right. My husband and I agreed that the only way this movie was made was because of Mr. Brooks writing and directing it himself. Really sad to waste the amount of money it takes to make a movie on something like this.

There is plenty of comedy in that part of the world, just that when it comes to Albert Brooks as a comedian, he just plain sucks. For comedy coming from that part of the World, see Howard & Kumar go to White Castle, Bend it Like Beckham, Monsoon Wedding. If there was no comedy in that part of the world Hollywood would not be grossing box office hits down there cheers

I don't know if some of the other reviewers watched the same movie I did, or they're not familiar with Brook's deadpan style of humor. After reading the reviews, I almost skipped watching it after I rented it, but I'm glad I didn't. I thought it was clever how he played himself- it was almost a prmotion for some of his earlier films. I really liked some of the background jokes, like missing the Taj Mahal and the telemarketing room in India. Those jokes reminded me of the Zucker brothers comedies. I really liked this movie

The film starts out strong with tantalizing comedic scenes, but slowly quietly drizzles into boredom. The titles suggests some interesting opportunities for comedy, but Brooks becomes too enmeshed and tangled into his own sadly limping attempt at satire or comedy as well as self-absorption. Who knows really WHAT he was attempting in this film as after the first strong 15 minutes the routines spiral the reel into the garbage can of boredom.

The story starts out right. It builds then it's just dropped. What ! Where did it go! It could've been better. Some interesting scenes and locales.
