It depicts one aspect of life in Uganda during a terrible regime. Forest Whitaker deserves an Oscar for this
portrayal. You can see him slowly sinking into the quicksand of a madman. I'm sure there are those who
would defend his actions for some reason they alone understand. This is not a movie children should see.

The Oscars finally got it right this time by giving Forest Whitaker the Oscar for Best Actor. Last year was a joke when they gave Capote's star the oscar for best actor. Well done Forest! WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreForest has been in so many movies, many of which I have seen. Personally, I do not think The Last King of Scotland is an exceptionally over-the-top performance by Forest. He is an incredible, superb actor in all that he does. He is so deserving of an Oscar.
The subject matter of this movie is depressing, as are many movies being made about Africa. This is not the kind of movie you come again from with a warm and fuzzy. Read MoreI can see why Forest Whitaker won an Academy Award for this performance. Not only was he excellent but the rest of the cast and the storyline was excellent. I knew of Idi Amin through the news at the time but showing details as seen by his young doctor gave a very graphic view of what was really going on in the faraway world in Africa.
