Forester was a dead-ringer for Amin. I found the movie educational, also remembering how the Israelis went in and resuced their nationals @ Entebbe. Uganda went from bad to worse after the oust of Obote and his return. Under Museveni 1/3 of Ugandans remain in poverty and he has recently abolished presidential term limitsand democratic opposition.

Therefore, we missed seeing the movie that we could have rented when returning the Last King of Scotland. Whitiker and McEvoy give fantastic performances here in this fictional story set in the time of actual history of the Ugandan Presient Idi Amin's horrific reign in the early 70s. McEvoy plays Amin's doctor in this film. It's a mix of facts and pure fiction which I sometimes find annoying, however the movie was exciting and there is no denying the top-drawer acting ability of Forest Whitiker in this film.

I was SO impressed with the acting of Forest Whitaker. Went into this movie not knowing what to expect, exactly. Friends had told me this is a "must see", but I'm just not that into political dramas about foreign dictators, so have put it off till now. The story was riveting, the acting superb, but I would have wished the few curse words not be included, or the few sex scenes . . . just not needed, on both counts. Still, I would recommend this movie.
