What a sexy laugh fest! The colors are so bright, it looks as if the film were made just yesterday. The performances are wonderful. All the comedic elements are in place for this very auspicious beginning to the "Pink Panther" series. However, because this is the first in the series, you may note that (1) Peter Sellers' "French" accent is still evolving; (2) he utters none of his familiar lines, such as "I knew that" (the closest he cones is, "Next time, get it right!"); and (3) Cato has yet to make an appearance. Please don't let this hold you back from renting "The Pink Panther", though; it is absolutely marvelous. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

The ending is rather mixed, some may like it as a twist, others will not. It reminds me of diabolik, the criminals are the heroes here.

Read More After hearing about the Steve Martin remake coming out, I figured I'd see the original. However, after watching this, I can't see why it is being remade at all. The humor is simply not funny at all, the plot is completely ridiculous, which wouldn't be so bad if the actors tried to make me laugh, but most of all I felt like I was watching a two hour soap opera. If you're looking for a movie about romance, adultery, and scandal, with a few funny moments scattered randomly throughout the picture, then this is for you. Read More I've read that this movie is TOTALLY hilarious, and is even better than the modern remake. So, that interested me -- plus I love early slap-stick humor so, I took a chance & bought this DVD from the store. ....OMG, what a complete SNORE-FEST!!!!
For one thing, I thought Peter Sellers would have a bigger part in the movie, but half of the story revolves around 2 other characters who are NOT amusing in the least!
.....Bottom line = Maybe this movie was considered "funny" once upon a time but, believe me, there's nothing even remotely funny about this dried out piece o' s**t. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

My children picked this movie on the que and watched it first. After watching it myself, I found it was not suitable for children. The main characters make adultery and sexual promiscuity seem to be badges of honor. The theif is the hero, the cop is a bumbling idiot, and the public idolizes anyone who is a jewel theif?WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
