Read MoreThis is a pretty good story with very good acting particularly by DiCaprio and Hounsou. This was filmed on some very spectacular locations and I prefer that to the computer generated scenery we get a lot of now in other films. Kept me interested although I am not sure how accurate a statement it tries to make about the diamond industry. It's a little on the long side but worth the time. Read MoreI only rented this because of the hype around it and honestly didn't expect too much. I have to admit - I was wrong about this one. One of the best movies I've seen in a very long time. Superb acting, drama, suspense and passionate. We live in a very safe country... it's as if it's "our own little world"... as far away as it seems from the trageties this film so clearly brings to life. My heart breaks for our brothers and sisters of Africa.... for I never knew their plight before now. As if they didn't exist up to this moment, yea they've suffered for so long. Read MoreTop notch acting, story, emotions, directing and pacing. A wonderful tour-de-force role for DiCaprio and a seemingly typical moving performance by Djimon. This movie definitely makes you question our own role in the artificial demand for worldwide diamonds. Rivets you for the entire 143 minutes, so it doesn't feel as long as it is, yet, I took off a half star because at certain times I felt a bit manipulated by certain contrived coincidences in the storyline. Way too long and starts off kinda boring. Kept trying to watch it for 3 days straight after I got off work, fell asleep every time. Either too long and boring, or I work too hard..... WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
