DiCaprio finally performs at the powerful, emotionally complex, mature and now muscular level his heretofore arguably undeserved reputation implies. By far his best performance. But Djimon Hounsou's riveting, barely controlled, explosive performance is the blazing heart and soul of this majestic and meaningful film. Indeed, every actor in this film, many of them very young and untrained, present us with remarkable performances.
Poison's growl into Solomon's ear "You think I am a devil? I am a devil because I am in hell and I want to get out!" really got to me and the sublime monstrosity of the following, stunning scene brought on the weep factor. The thrilling BIG battle scenes are reminiscent of Blackhawk Down, and Zwick confirms that he used the same FX maestro. Not for young children. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Terrific acting by Leo and Djimon, and I thought the actor that played Dia was extremely talented also. Overall good, thought provoking movie, but not for younger kids.
