Read More I anxiously awaited this movie for months before it came out, and let me just say that it did not disappoint at all! It is full of constant non-stop action and suspense, with a twist and new direction to the story around every turn. It's a longer movie, about 2+ hours, but I was fully into in the movie the entire time (unlike a lot of other 'longer' movies which can tend to drag at times). Leonardo DiCaprio does an amazing job, probably his best work ever! Do NOT miss this movie! It really opens your eyes to a whole new world that isn't really looked at or talked about in our society. It has alot of action (better realism than most "war" scenes in other movies), an easy to follow storyline, alot of great panoramic views during "calm" scenes, and a realistic view of other country's no nonsense ways of punishment. you'll enjoy the movie, but you probably would'nt sit down and commit to it a second time a year or 2 down the road, if that makes sense. It is a very bloody movie, but it is happening now and everyday. You may not like this movie but you can not close your eyes to the truth of what is going on now!!! It's awfully written, the acting is surprisingly bad, and the film itself is insultingly exploitative. The violence is for shock value, the dialogue is laughably cliched, and the characters are paper-thin.
Edward Zwick also directed the involving 'The Last Samurai', which starred Tom Cruise in a performance so much better than the ones here, and contained an involving storyline. This is gooey, manipulative crap. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

These types of movies that touch on real life tragedies in other countries are very eye-opening. The acting in this was flawless, especially Dijimon Hounsou whose character suffered so much throughout the movie. One of the best movies I've seen in a very long time.
