Read MoreMasterful. Beautifully done. Doesn't portray the widows of India as perfect, but as long-suffering; which is exactly what many of them today still are. Ghandi's teachings brought about reform in many of India's more progressive areas and this movie doesn't leave that out but touches on that as well. Thought provoking and moving. Great soundtrack. It is about the fate of widows in hinduism, scripture versus conscience, selfish hyposcrisy, Gandhi, love, and childhood; pretty much in that order.
