Huge disappointment. Acting was thin and forced, storyline lame, and it drug on way too long.

It was a good movie, but John Travolta acting as a woman was hard to watch. It was entertaining and funny, but I probably will not watch it again.

Horrible from start to finish. Not at all like the original. I can take musicals but this was just a disjointed bunch of songs surrounded by minute amounts of dialog. Like my son told his wife and my wife midway through it, "You really owe Dad and me a lot of football for making us sit through this.

The music and dance sequences were weak and definitely not memorable. Overall a poor movie but I gave it 3 stars for outstanding performances from John Travolta and (as always) Christopher Walken.

Good musical. For me, it didn't get going to the 'Corny Collins' show. The songs were good but not that memorable. Though I did like the songs at the ending credits. Fun movie. B

Forget comparing this movie to the original. Even Ricki Lake is best remembered for her talk show . John Travolta stars in a tour de force role which could rival John Waters character Divine in the classic movie Polyester. If you're like me and hate most musicals, this movie will leave you once it's over ... singing a different tune. Queen Latifah including the entire ensemble cast lights the screen from start to finish. Its refreshing to watch a musical where the music is not necessarily a distraction to the storyline. The movie in a light hearted way addresses the inhumanity of racism while never forgeting to focus on the optimism of the human spirit, which knows what lies ahead is destined to be a better day. Sit back and allow the movie to lift your spirit , make you laugh and remind you of where we've been whether you're Black or White. Most importantly the movie reminds us ,we have a long way to go and maybe, if we all hold hands, we just might get there together.
