While it did eliminate some of my favorite songs from the show, the movie is great. The DVD is a little disappointing because there are no special features, but otherwise a great movie.

I remember watching the previews and thinking what a dumb concept this movie would be. However, I was luckily wrong, this movie is very entertaining. Kept me laughing throughout. Watch this movie!

This movie had jokes about many types of people, and a ton of energy. Newcomer Nikki Blonski was great as high schooler who loves to dance, and wanted to be on a show that only featured better looking people. The TV show's manager was a weird, biased parent who had won a prize in a minor contest and wanted to be sure her daughter won in this competion. This movie is well worth watching.

I was anticipating an entertaining musical with John Travolta as his usual phenomenal self. This movie was all about race relations and was even lacking in content with that concept. I could not recognize one song, nor did I care to. Also all the singing was way too long and silly. I realize the movie is set in 1960, but it was so non-commital to any generation of music. It was a waste of Travolta and Queen Latifah's talents.

I was looking forward to this, but wow was I disappointed! I never thought a musical could have too much singing and dancing, but this one does. I was falling asleep at times. I liked the non-musical version of this the most. And I love John Travolta, but not as a woman!

I really loved the movie Hairspray that starred Ricki Lake, so I thought that the newer version would be a good movie to see... I was wrong! This version sucked to say the least! The story line was similiar in some ways but it was different in most. I guess I was spoiled by the first one. Don't get me wrong, a few of the actors were great, John Travolta, but that's about all I can say nice about the movie. I will say that if you haven't seen the version with Ricki Lake then you might like this version.

This is a POOR excuse for a musical. The songs were NOT good, memorable or music worthy.Plus it took some great acting from christopher walken and John Travolta to elevate this movie from BOMB status to just slightly higher than Bomb status. And it didnt work. I am giving this a ONE star movie and am TOTALLY FAIR. This movie is a SKIPPER unless you are a glutton for ANY kind of musical.
