We are a family of die-hard LOTR fans, both the books and the movies, and we found this almost unwatchable. The director's penchant for interviewing the most extreme and bizarre/creepy fans was degrading to this effort and to LOTR fans in general. These type of fans are not what relatively normal people relate to. Also, the sexual references were completely unnecessary. On the other hand, the commentaries of the cast and crew were great, and enjoyable to watch. The National Geographic documentaries are a much better pick for background info about LOTR and Tolkien.

An interesting look at Tolkien and his work, Ringers through the decades, and our dedication (some would call it 'obsession', but what do they know?) to Tolkien and Middle Earth. Shown as geeks who have no life outside Lord of the Rings, we are not. There is some footage of a few who would seem a bit *too* dedicated to the world Tolkien created, but the majority, including various celebs from music, movies, , are intelligent folks who are simply having some fun. There's one section where some Ringers explain what they love about Tolken's work and those featured have intelligent answers which have to do with the universal themes and the story coming alive for them. Definitely something to watch at least once.

If you're a die hard fan of LOTR, you've probly seen this already. If not, check this out. A wide range of interesting characters, from the genuinely warm hearted to the dangerously obsessed.

This is a way cool doc on the loyal fans of Tolkien especially the ones from theonering.net who did everything in their power to make sure that Peter Jackson stayed true to the essence of Tolkien - which Phillipa, Fran and Peter did! It was great that the actors participated also in the making.
