I thought it was very well executed, with a tight story, and superb acting. Sure, its not an action packed typical Hollywood film. Its a realistic, independent film. I would recommend this if you are into non-Hollywood closer to real life independent films. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Very little dialogue but well acted and interesting. I always appreciate anything that makes me think and doesn't have the obligatory happy Hollywood ending (or beginning or middle). If this were the typical Hollywood movie, Elvis would have shown up, been rejected by William Hurt, done something heroic, been accepted by his father; his father would then have publicly repented, been forgiven by his congregation and everyone would find true love. This film is, unfortunately, not as far fetched as some of the reviewers have thought, and is closer to real life than the typical Hollywood, Steven Speilberg crap. Read More I actually got into this movie not so much because of the story line but more due to the fact that this kind of movie shows the human dark side. It was interesting, and kept my attention but have to admit that the plot is a little far fetched. It's definitely an attack against religion, which I personally don't care for, but invites the viewer to be firmly planted about beliefs and real life. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? I waited months for this because it was filmed in Corpus Christi. Bad acting by very talented actors, loathsome characters, and an atrocious Texan accent by William Hurt. We may sound weird, but not like that! A serious waste of time, not worth a free rental. I would like to see more of Pell James though, she created the movie's only sympathetic character.
