CLASSIC DYLAN !! This movie was absolutely wonderful -with all the old film clips. It's also very refreshing to hear Dylan today commenting on himself, his music and the times in the past. He is the BEST EVER ! Dylan is the best example of Americana folklore in the 20th century. My "History of Bob Dylan" class in the early 70's was one of the best courses I ever took at San Diego State University !

I found this doc engaging and insightful regarding the whole folk and early rock music scenes, and finally figured what all the Dylan fuss was about. He was a sort of prodigy in his day. You have to ask yourself what you were doing when you were just 20 years old and hold that next to what Bob was doing when he was that age. Getting back to the point, this is a must see for longtime Dylan fans and novices (like me) of early folk and rock.

After the disappointment of disk one, this excellent Anthology makes the wasted time of viewing the later worth the time you just invested. The anthology has been released on CD and is mixed to perfection. Again as I said about disk one, the mixing leaves something to be desired. But, I would think that true Dylan fans won”t mind a bit. There really isn’t much to reviw in this collection as it speaks for itself...Your gona love the music Dylan fans.

Bob's the only one, and Marty knows it. Two masters for a unforgettable documentary. And it is even funny... The Oscar goes to Bob and Scorsese. I don't know what are you waiting for...

Outstanding directing, interviewing, clips of concerts and press conferences, photos. Brings out the genius of Dylan and the enigma (and difficult personality) of genius.

Interesting historical narrative with intermittent solo performances by Dylan early in his career. I plan to order Disc 2 shortly. *UPDATE"--Disc 2 covered the fact that Dylan was truly a controversial character given his desire to write and sing songs, rather that play the role of "protest singer". A really creative and admirable individual.

I respect dylan as a musician..but listening to him narrate his life was really a dull experience for me. I felt no life force from him. He just appeared burnt from a lot of drugs and kind of cynical. I was not inspired. A true artist can inspire you in the moment. I dont romanticize the past. He just wasnt present for me. But I do think a lot of early music was excellent. I was disappointed but I am not a hard core Dylan Fan. But I had the same experience when iwatched Elton John. And his early music was brilliant but now he is a tyrant. I think the point is that these people may be talented but they are very human and just as flawed as the rest of us. And maybe they need a reminder like we all do to stay humble.
