Read More I think it could have easily been cut to 2 hours since, as one reviewer pointed out, there are not too many cliffhanger surprises. That said, I do "get" what Spielberg was trying to portray. That is that, even when revenge actions seem justified, there are always collateral results that are not what we planned. I think the climax scene that so many hated was meant to show that the lead is trying to get on with his life and escape the horror in his mind but he cannot. Even at a moment of great pleasure he is reliving the original incident. From what is shown I gather that he was the sniper at the airport and that he feels guilty about missing a shot and starting the chain of events which led to the death of the 9 hostages. The assignment as the assassin he hoped would bring closure but it only opened more holes in his life. BTW, I find it helpful to turn on closed captioning on the DVD when there is a lot of whispering or heavy accents as in this picture. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

This was a long movie but it was never dull. I remember the Isreali athlete killings at the Munich Olympics since I was in junior high at the time. I remember feeling sad and angry about what happened.
I did not realize that there were hits put on the terrorists who killed the athletes.
I thought the cast was very good, especially Eric Bana who is also extremely pleasant to look at! I could watch him read the phone book for three hours and I would be riveted.
This is definitely worth a rental. I was sorry to see some people thought it was boring. If you need to be entertained, watch a cartoon. If you are interested in seeing a movie about an historical event and its aftermatch done in a sensitive and riveting manner, this is the movie for you! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Instead, it dragged on, to the detriment of the main character. The cast was EXCELLENT though! Absolutely NO payoff at the end - just frustration. Perhaps that was reality of it? Doesn't matter. As a filmmaker, take some artistic license and make it BETTER. Everyone should know about what happened but I don't know if this film is the best vehicle for that.
