When the weight of rejection begins to set in after being denied entry to every college he has applied to, a high school burnout attempts to placate his mom and dad and win the heart of his dream girl by scheming with his friends to create a fake university in a hilarious comedy of artificial education directed by Steve Pink and starring Justin Long. Bartleby "B" Gaines (Long) is a high school senior whose street smarts just never seemed to translate into the classroom, and whose bad luck in love has left him pining for the unattainable Monica (Blake Lively). When Bartleby and his rebellious crew of outcasts find the frequent college rejection letters they have all been receiving bringing endless grief from their disappointed parents, they soon band together to create the fictional South Harmon Institute of Technology. After creating a believable façade in an abandoned psychiatric hospital, employing the talents of a close friend's brilliantly subversive uncle (Lewis Black) to pose as the dean, and creating a phony website in order to sell the school to their parents, Bartleby and friends soon realize that all of their hard work has paid off in ways than they never imagined. With a variety of college rejects attempting to enroll in classes at the ersatz university and the skepticism of some privileged students from a nearby college drawing unwanted attention to the South Harmon Institute of Technology, Bartleby and friends find their ruse becoming ever more difficult to maintain. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
I loved this movie. Justin Long was at his best, and i hope he ends up getting that role with Bruce Willis for the next die hard movie. Everything about this movie was great all the actors were well put together to mold this film into a comedy classic. All in all great movie
After seeing previews, I wasn't expecting a lot from this movie. But, it was actually pretty good. Not quite to the stupid comedy level of Old School or anything, but funny nonetheless.
It was a good movie for families with teenage kids, strong in language but they've heard worse. The acting was good and the story was sometimes predictable, sometimes not. Kind of off the wall stuff., but worth a rental.
This movie was pretty silly. Totally unrealistic, but entertaining nonetheless. I think Justin Long did the best he could with the role that was written, but the plot was silly.
I think this movie is not appropriate for a 13 year old. I am a strict parent and think that you must me an adult over 18.
In my opinion parents please restrict your children from watching this crude movie. My suggestion to parents or guardians is to not let your child to watch it until the age of 18. But that is young, so make sure your 18 year old child or older is able to handle this rude humor so they must be very capable of not repeating the bad language.
