Danny Boyle has made a career out recycling old ideas into something newer and sharper.
He reinveted the zombie genre, the drug flick, the romantic comedy and so on.
With Sunshine he tackles science fiction.
Make all the references you want this movie still holds you in its grasp from start to finish.
In the end you are kind of forced to make up your own mind about what exactly happened.
Cillian Murphy plays a minor role in the first two acts but in the end he is the star.
As allways the man delivers.
Great movie too bad it got released on the same weekend as The Simpsons. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It opens on a second crew sent to reignite the sun after an untold event has caused it to fade. I liked the premise and the story line, even tho the scting sometiems falls short. Ilike the effects and the settings.
And I liked the writing. The characters were mostly beleiveible, although the script sometimes defaulted to archtypically behavior. I definately recommond this movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I was amused by the Nitche-esque atheist tones, because it is definatley an obsolete philosophy. But I see how the screenplay had to apply it to scientists, afterall the movie is not a philosophy lecture, the writer had to make the characters coherent so he fell back on something that seemed pragmatic all in the name of entertainment. Going down as one of my favs. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Overall a good movie for kids to teens, but adults see too easily through the fake science. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I did end up fast forwarding through parts of it. I liked the actors and the story line, but it could have had a little more action through the mid-portion of the movie. It did do a great job in showing how people react in bad situations. The ending was more sci-fi than the beginning and middle, so it did kind of throw me off. I'm a fan of a good sci-fi...but folks this ain't it! I don't bother writing reviews so for me to actually put fingers to keyboard and review this means something. Horrible photography, not always good sound production, irritating music, and uninspiring plot/storyline. Blood, guts, betrayal, suicide, murder and a somber mood that leaves you feeling ill. Skip the movie and just go bang your head into a wall and you'll end up with the same feeling as if you watched it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More "Sunshine" is just not that suspenseful, nor is it particularly fear-inducing. Because of the bland acting, lack of sufficient character differentiation and development, and zero romance between any of the characters, I was never at the edge of my seat, wondering who is to live and who is to die. Cillian Murphy seemingly sleepwalks his way through his role as a nuclear physicist who ascends to leadership of a spacecraft on a critical and perilous mission; in this role he is oddly miscast. As science fiction, "Sunshine" leaves too many pseudo-science questions unanswered. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
