If scientists from nasa saw this movie they may say that it does not make sense. But the physics of the plot is way over my head so I did not worry about how they could have a shield that would not be burned by the Sun. It is not really about that anyway, it's about the people on the ship. It is kind of hard to describe. It is sort of like Alien without the alien, or 2010. If you are looking for Star Wars or Armageddon don't go here. I thought the acting was great, no over the top, super heros. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Ok, the premise that the Sun is dying out 5 BILLION years earlier than it's predicted to and that you can somehow jumpstart the bugger with half of the Earth's nuclear material (the other half being on the Icarus I) is a bit out there, but the rest of the science is ok. Gold reflective panels on the shield, the fact that someone COULD survive in space for a little while...it's mostly good.
The nice part is that this is not a "Stupid people must die situation" All the decisions are well thought out and made with a good rational behind it. At no point in the movie was I sitting there and wondering "Why in the name of Zeus's butthole did you do that?"
Worth seeing. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Have you seen 28 Days Later? If so, you know the harrowing nature of his stories: intense, tightly focused narratives involving stressful situations. Sunshine is the story of a small band of scientists and space crew flying to the sun to rejuvenate it before it dies out. Problem is, it isn't quite that straightforward. I enjoyed this movie because the plot twists and turns, and I could never directly point to what the ending would be before we got there. Parts of the movie are cliché, but it's forgiveable. Give it a shot. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Wow, this whole movie was just the worst parts of all the end of the world movies in the last decade. We have a handful of really overrated and bad actors who annoy you. Then we jump right into the mission, no back story, no development and filmed in constant darkness with no explanation so u have to kind of figure it out for yourself. Then we tear a page out of Event Horizon's script and have a bad guy going around killing everyone. Wow, top notch garbage here, dont waste ur time. This is true schlock and not worth wasting time, the people who loved it obviously have less intelligence than a radish Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Wasnt awful, was at least watchable, though i had my doubts at first. Totally unbelievable 20 something characters that belong on CW network or Dawsons Creek, not in an trillion dollar "last chance for earth" spaceship as the worlds leading scientists and astronauts. Is the target audience for this movie 17 yr olds or what? Not one character was believable or the least bit likable. Huge segments of the action are skipped and only shown in the deleted scenes section leaving u wondering what the heck is going on. Too many ripoffs from other sci-fi's. Too many "personal" moments and who gives a rats @ss about romance in a sci-fi as Andrea P. complains about? Are there really ppl that stupid that rent a science oriented film looking for romance? Although I can see how the teen soap opera characters might have led her that way once she started watching...... Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
