This movie is a truly touching drama which I am sure will appeal to only a few and turn off others. Because I like twists and turns in my movies, I found it to be just up my alley. Diane's struggle to conform to what her high society family wants and deal with her real needs is indeed fascinating. Though I knew how the story was going and the possible ending, I was transfixed by it. Nicole Kidman was wonderful.

A beautiful drama with great acting. A very underrated movie that captivates you right from the beginning.

Lots of serious fun in this grown-up fairy tale inspired by the life of Diane Arbus. Robert Downey is great as the human wookie and Kidman again is quietly excellent as the heroine. Mysterious, sexy and haunted with a core of real emotion. Glad they still make 'em like this.

This was soft porn and I think it should have been maked as such. Nicole Kidman is a great actress and hiring herself out for her ability to breath softly belittle her. Robert Downy Jr. has proven he will do any role... but I expected more of Nicole Kidman. Again... this was trash, the story was trite and again women are belittled by some writers harsh words.

This film was done with such honesty. Even though it was an imaginary decent into a real woman's world it gave forth the true emotions of desire and curiosity that we all carry. It was slow at times but worth it for the true feel. The ending is thoughtful and was even better when I searched the internet to read her real story. I am surprised that the video did not have any of her true history in special features. Worth the whole story! A feel good ride of diving into passions yet explored.

I read many reviews for this film describing the watchers inability to comprehend the point of this film. This is an artistic film, it is one that speaks to the stranger human beings of this planet. If you are a middle class, typical person who accepts your life the way it is you will probably not understand/enjoy this movie. I thought the message of embracing what makes you different and living your life the way it should be lived was the most beautiful part about it. The camera angles and cinematography were just lovely and Nicole Kidman has once again shown her versatility and expertise. I loved the design of the set, the oddities of Lionel's home placed just so in sharp contrast to her normal home. I recommend this movie to those who are willing to see the other side of themselves and who have the courage to walk through the door of their minds to discover and embrace another part of themselves.
