5 out of 5 people found this review helpful For those that gave this powerful love story a low rating, I feel bad that you can not identify with the human emotions involved in this movie. This was an amazing, well written and well acted movie. I can not think of any flaws or holes in the plot. I guess it didn't have the hype of all the other movies released at the time. If you like Nicole Kidman and/or Robert Downey Jr, I think you'll like this movie. Instead of trying think what's bad with the movie, watch it with the perspective of what's good.WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Yes, real life. Who hasn't once or twice fantasized about going to the "other side" of sexuality, fetishes, and the normal dull-drom atrocities of life. If you say you have NEVER...I call you out. This movie was dark, beautiful, and not your average storyline. The beauty of the love story is what compelled me to watch. The previous reviewers talk about the fat naked people...that was what, 10 minutes of the movie? If that is the reason you are looking to rent, skip it. RD and NK were fabulous. I loved it. There are many "contemplative" moments where the movement in the movie is so slow. It is a sad movie about the destruction of a marriage and a family. It was slow,slow,slow. It was extremely OVER acted by Kidman. The story was boring. The director had Kidman zoomed-in on about 1000 times. Few words spoken in the film. If you want to watch a character spend 10 minutes going up a flight of stairs while the camera zooms in on their eyes fluttering than this is the film for you. Not for me!
