Good acting, but directed with a heavy handed tone, painfully slow pacing and a preachy, at times judgemental voice. Yes, we get it, the system doesn't work. Like I haven't heard that a million times before. For a movie about communication it certainly doesn't have much to say. Ignore the Academy and save your time and your rental for the superior The Queen or The Departed, the later of which comes out on video around the same lime as Babel. 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful It's rare a movie compels me to eject it. Maybe it was my mood. However, the first 30 minutes were painful enough that I didn't want to endure any more.WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

When's the last time Pitt made a good movie? Less time running around africa impregnating Jolie and more time working on your job might be a good idea. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This movie won some great awards, and was acted brilliantly, but did not live up to the expectations created by the trailer. Far from being the edge-of-your-seat drama depicted in the trailer, it was boring at every turn. If you watch movies to decipher relationships and symbolism, this is the movie for you; otherwise, stay away! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The director tells each of the four story lines perfectly. The def-mute Japanese girl's story was told incredibly with scenes flashing back and forth from sound and no sound to show how she felt. And the actress played it perfectly. It told great stories and it was cool to see how everything was connected. It's a little confusing but in the end everything makes sense. Great acting all around, even though Cate Blanchett wasn't given much to do, and a great score. All the kids in the movie were astounding. If you liked Traffic, you'll love this. Although, I do reccomend The Departed over it Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
