It is hard to compare this movie to "Hoop Dreams". This movie focuses on the teamwork of the girls through the unique hard work of the coach. Where as "Hoop Dreams" was more about the family and social/economic situations of individual players. The movie focuses more on the games and play of Darnella Russell and her teammates. It is worth watching if you're really interested in seeing teamwork at it's best.

This documentary takes you through a period of a girl's basketball team, with an expected ending, but some unexpected twists en route. When one thinks about it, this viewer wondered when the "call" was made to turn this into a movie, for there was no "story" evident early on. Most likely, the chronicles were the initial intent, but then a film-worthy story emerged, and this is what blossomed. The characters, most notably the coach, and fun interviews are what makes this film, while one wonders about why it took so much for the athletic association to "accept" the decision.

I hate basketball, and females playing basketball...But this movie was more about basketball. It was enthralling. The coach was funny and intersting how he used "animal" anologies to psyche up his players. But the true stars were the players themselves...especially how tragically some of the player's choices affected them later....Great movie

I thought it was great. Kids thought it was a little slow. Life's lessons dispensed by a basketball coach and a good sports movie to boot. Make your teenage girls watch it.

I'd been told that this movie was a girl's version of "Hoop Dreams," so I rented the movie with really high expectations. It started off pretty slowly, and frankly, it was pretty boring at first. But because the movie had received such good reviews, I decided to stick it out -- and I'm glad that I did. The movie eventually started picking up, and by the end, it was interesting and exciting. So, although the movie didn't meet my high expectations, I still enjoyed it overall.

I don't know what i was expecting, but I almost turned it off when I first started watching it. But surprisingly it was not too bad. The coach is a hoot-one of those you hope your kids never get but you love to watch it on tv!! It took a lot of unexpected twists and turns, but I really enjoyed watching it. Definitely not a kid movie like I had first thought.
