Read More I knew this movie was Spanish and would have to read subtitles the whole time which I have never had a problem with before but it just didn't work with this movie. Typically there is enough of a plot to draw you into the story that you don't mind reading the lines. If you frequently find yourself drawn to shows on the Spanish channel than you may like this movie. We were unable to get into the movie at all. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More This is a basically good movie, with excellent performances. But it was a muddle of social commentary, superstition, and a treatise on kharma and parenting by example. Guys who are interested in movies about characters and relationships, and abusive men being murdered should enjoy it. All others, especially action addicts, should probably skip it. I think women will get a lot more out of the movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I have seen every one of Almodovar's films, and I think this is his best to date. He classifies himself as a magical realist film maker, and this movie pulled it off flawlessly! The subtle witty humor, the mysterious miracles, the odd characters make it so entertaining, and keeps you curious to solve the mysteries. Some people wrote that they didn't know this movie was in Spanish, or say they don't like subtitles. To them I say can you imagine this film in an American setting spoken in English? There is an elusive element to Spanish culture that allows magical realism to live. This genre, whether it be literary or on film, only works in the Latin American context. If you haven't seen more of Almodovar's films, see them! "Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down" and "All About my Mother" are my other favorites. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
