Read More I really liked this movie. I have to say that even though I don't speak or understand spanish I followed very easily with the subtitles and I thought the movie was creative, funny and interesting. This movie held my attention more than The Good Shepard or the Departed which were snooze fests to me. At least this had a storyline and great acting. It has one of those endings that doesn't feel like it really ended though and I wish they'd followed the storyline a little more. But the movie wasn't 3 hours long, which I'm sick of, and it was worth watching. And I wasn't even paid off to say that!!!! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More I have to say, before watching this movie, I had no idea what it was about. I had heard a lot of great things about it, but really wasn't expecting much of it. After watching it, I LOVED IT. I saw it in my city's theater and absolutely fell in love with it. The cinematography is great, the colors are bright and the acting is magnificent. There's several plots in the movie to keep you entertained, and never did it become annoying or tedious. Penelope did a splendid performance. This movie has everything, comedy, drama, suspense. Penelope Cruz is excellent in her oscar nominated performance. Beautiful cinematography and excellent acting here. A drama that is also a comedy with elements of
suspense also. Director Pedro Almodovar has made a shining film on the human condition that transcends the normal hesitation Americans have with foreign or independent films. You will forget the subtitles because of the way it draws

The story just didn't flow for me, it seemed choppy, jumbled and convoluted. It's extremely sentimental and sappy, it gets tiresome listening to these unlikable characters. The movie also seemed so interminable. I was bored, and nodding off. It's just a slow moving, tedious, sappy, slug of a movie.
