I like Shakespeare, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Japaneese culture, but apparently the three don't mix. It was Shakespeare's "As You Like It" to the letter, English accents and "hey, nonny nonny" songs included, yet thrown into a 19th century Japan apparently overrun with foreigners. In fact, only two of the characters in the large cast appeared to be of Japaneese decent. I would suggest watching it with the sound off to enjoy the costumes, but the sight of Orlando in a loin cloth has scarred me for life!

Sorry, but this movie just doesn't make the grade. My daughter left the room and my sister-in-law and I could only last 5 minutes longer. Life is too short and there are better things to do with it than watch a movie where even the English gets on your nerves.

After seeing Shakespeare with Kevin Kline I could not handle this.. Sorry it is too outdated. I am more sorry that Kevin Kline wasn't chosen to beautify it..jill
