Read More This movie actually angered me less than halfway through as it was possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It had all the elements to be pretty good: decent storyline, good cast, big budget. But it tried too hard to be "Lord of the Rings," "Harry Potter" and a little "The Mummy." Unfortunately, it couldn't pull off any of them. I had to turn it off halfway through and it wasn't until the next day i forced myself to watch the rest of it, rooting for the bad guys and hoping everyone got killed. Some of the worst acting I have ever seen. Dialogue was horrendous. The characters weren't interesting and the story line was ok at best. All in all a bad movie. The only reason I gave it 1 star was the graphics were decent. If you haven't seen Dragonheart, I would highly recommend that one over this. It's not a great movie but is a good movie and I wish I would have just watched that one again. Instead there's 2 hours of my life I can't get back... Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More I quite enjoyed this movie! Not having read the book, my primary frame of reference to dragons and their riders is based on the "Dragonriders of Pern" series by Anne McCaffrey. While they exist in very different worlds, Ms McCaffrey's books and this movie share a number of similar concepts dealing with the relationship between a dragon and it's rider. Some scenes may be a bit frightening for a young child, however I believe older children will love this film. And as a member of the "over 50" crowd, I'm proof that some of the later generations will also find it both exciting and entertaining. I look forward to seeing how the sequels unfold. Read More This movie had some incredible CGI and special effects but the story was weak. The whole "chosen one" and "the last hope" bit has just been over done and is so played out that any fool can predict this entire movie from the opening credits. The books are just "Star Wars" set in "Middle Earth." This is supposed to become a trilogy so the movie seems to end right in the middle of the story, which is just disappointing. Watch it for the effects not the story. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Not the worst movie I've ever seen but nothing I would recommended to anyone. They stole the shot selection and story and characters of Star Wars IV and put it in a cheap Lord of the Rings setting then created one of the most annoying hero's ever and added a CGI dragon that is at least a couple years behind even what they did in Reign of Fire, a dragon movie from six years ago. The art direction, pacing, direction and acting were all horrible (except Irons, he was better then the material). Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

If you have read the book don't expect the same story. It removes itself from Paolini's book in so many important ways that if they make a second movie from Eldest it will be interesting to see how they fill the holes. An entertaining movie otherwise. It makes sense that the comments are split amoung those who have read the book and those who have not. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
