You will be extremely disappointed in the movie. Would have been much, much better if the screenwriter had followed the book more closely. Could have easily added on 20-30 minutes since it wasn't a very long movie and put in more of the substance of the book so some things could be better understood. There were sections that you go away thinking, "huh, why and how did that occur???" because there was no explanation if you hadn't read the book. I guess if you didn't know anything about the book one might think it was a really great movie, but please read the book after -- you'll really see the difference and how badly the movie was made in comparison. This could have been a great series of movies, but i expect that they killed any chance for the sequel with this awful movie. NO one will go to a sequel now. However, I like good movies, period. In any case, there was a lot of hype surrounding this film when it came out. I don't remember hearing much about it at that time, which usually means it wasn't that great. But I have a blu-ray player and decided to check this out in blu-ray.
The story itself is interesting, but I don't think the movie itself did it justice. The visual and sounds on blu-ray were really cool, but the way the story was adapted to film seemed very weak. Read More I really had no high expectations when I went to see this in the theatre however it turned out to be a great movie and left me wanting more as I left the theatre. I'm anxious to see how the story continues as the characters continue along their journey. It may have not followed the books exactly but the plot wasn't full of holes and there was no real incontinuity. If youâve read the book, you probably won't enjoy the movie as much, bc you will be dwelling on the differences. I liked the cast they chose for the movie and the special effects were great. Read More havent seen the movie yet (as its not out) but ive read the books and....they are really good!! but i dont think the people who wrote that summary know what they are talking about.. DINASAUR EGG??!!! its a DRAGON for all of you who havent read the book. allthough it might just be a typing error....the summary still isnt very good though. here is my version: young farmers nephew finds mysterious DRAGON egg in woods and is swiftly inveloped into the magical realm. as Eragon (Ed Speelers) encounters monsters and the evil King Galbatorix (John Malvovich)(Malcavich??), Eragon is helped by his companion and mentor Brom (Jeremy Irons) in this epic tale of danger and loss, loyalty and bravery, this is a must see for the whole family.
