I liked it. You can tell the author, Christopher Paolini, took elements from other movies and books. i.e. The Star Wars Saga and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and incorporated them into his story.
The story of Erogon, Much like the story of Luke Skywalker and Frodo Baggins, was a coming of age tale and unlocking the power inside ones self to save the day. I liked the book because you saw the growth of Eragon. A poor farm boy who did not know how to read let alone fight to a powerful warrior who can cast elven magic. What I liked about the book was not in the movie. The director and scriptwriters (probobly due to budget and studio big wigs) pushed them to cut alot of the story. What you end up getting is 103 minutes of a movie which neglects much of the story and characters that made the book a fun read. The movie was had to watch. Good Things I rented this movie for free because it was too much money in some cases. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

This movie chopped up the storyline and made a brand new plot. I know there will not be a sequel. The movie storyline is now unrecoverable. The acting was poor, the stories were rushed. Ther was NO character development. They condensed 3 hours into 60 minutes. My 14 year old son and I gagged as we stormed out of the theater. Ripoff! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? 3 out of 6 people found this review helpful If you have read the books, even the backs of the books, DO NOT GET THIS MOVIE. I have never been so upset about a movie in my life! It is like they didn't even try to stay anywhere near the story in the books...and they didn't even make the dragon look like how it is explained in the series. This has got to be the worse movie adaption of a book ever created!!!WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

They butchered the book! If the book was followed, and a bit of money was spent for the special effects then it would be worth watching. The producers wasted an opportunity to make an amazing movie. It was cheap and hokey. I hated it. I wish I could rate it with NO STARS!!! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Well this was acutally better than I expected - I was expecting it to be more for tweenie-agers, however I found it could be enjoyed by a more general audiance. John Malkovich and Jeremy Irons were nice to enjoy here - this is a nice "family" flick. The blue-eyed dragon has the voice of a young woman (lol) and the movie as a whole is fairly tame so fine to view with older kiddos. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
