This was a clean, wholesome movie - and it was well done. Those two things almost never coincide. It was such an excellent picture of loss, grief and healing. Highly recommended. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

They are considered a "good match" because the boy believes he is from Mars. Good performances & though not a perfect script it was adapted from the short true-life story of science fiction writer David Gerrold (who's first story was Star Trek's The Trouble with Trebbles). He wrote Martian Child 10 years ago after adopting his son. Check out special features to hear Mr. Gerrold talk about that time of his life and meet his son now in his twenties. The entire movie I was waiting for him to do his top five list on why he should be a parent; a take on his character from High Fidelity. For the most part I really like John Cusack's movies. Bad, really bad, first they make you believe the kid is from mars, and talks like a retard, then all of the sudden is is just a normal boy. What a crummy movie, it was a waste of my good two hours. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
