For people that have lived in Minneapolis or St Paul, there are lots of great inside jokes that only someone from MN would understand. Overall this is a great movie about having to care for someone you love that is slowly dying, but also contains a nice romantic plot twist as well. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More Very, very touching movie about the golden moments that disease affects the family as a whole. Not only is alzehimers and parkinson reflected but addiction as well. The only negative the actress portraying the home health worker should have been identified as a nurse, because that is the job she was doing. Home health workers do the tasks that the grandson and wife did; tolieting, feed and errands. The job is not as glamous as portrayed. They do not fly from state to state as travel employees, it is mainly the nurse that does, a registered nurse. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Donald Sutherland deserves a Best Actor nomination for his role in this movie - as he was so outstanding, playing a grandfather with dymensia...and trying to give his grandson a few pieces of gold in advice for living, and remembering the years they had together when he was younger. I loved the scenery and location shoots in Minneapolis - as it is such a beautiful city. Beautiful snow shots in the Scandinavian midwestern city. Take a liking to a Viking - - ahhh, y' betcha !! 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful This is one of my favorite all time movies. It shows the bridge between being young and getting old. And the dedication we have for the ones we love and the ones we want forever. I would recommend this movie to anyone.WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

What is the point? If is was to get a laugh, then I pity the simpleton who thinks the "f" word is funnier the more it is said. Sutherland did an admirable job of showing the effects of the 'A-bomb' but as one who lost a parent to the disease, I can say that he was much too lucid near the end if the disease had progressed as far as they wanted us to believe. Overall, it's a predictable storyline with otherwise average acting that requires that the viewer be only half-engaged. Rent it if you really enjoy seeing the elderly cuss. Donald Sutherland who I've always admired may have gave a little too much in this case. There were some nice analogies within the story but I think this film about knowing the worth of life just missed it's mark in the long run. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Who do you have working the movie sorter position. Who's difficult task is it to stuff a dvd into an envelope? The movie is called Aurora Borealis. I can see how it could be confused with The Aura. I mean the 1st 3 letters are the same. What I can't see is how blockbuster can have a problem reported 3 times from the same person, for the same dvd, spanning over 3 weeks, and not correct it. If you choose to rent this movie, good luck. I hope you like the Aura. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
