My friends and I could not stop laughing at this very funny comedy. The other reviews were just too critical. This movie is NOT trying to be an Oscar winner, just simple gay humor and a romantic comedy. Chris Kattan, Parker Posie and the rest of the cast were just out to have fun with this movie with director/writer/friend Craig Chester. By the way, Craig Chester was hilarious in KISS ME GUIDO. Relax, make a cocktail, and enjoy a funny comedy.

Finally: a grown-up, original, gay romantic comedy. Craig Chester's (he wrote it, directed it & plays one of the leads) ADAM & STEVE is something else: Its first few minutes contain one of the truly gross scenes in filmmaking--as funny as it is shocking. Later it's used to a splendid purpose, proving that--rather than never having to say you're sorry--love actually means sometimes accepting the most offensive moments from your partner, understanding them & continuing to love. If this sounds a bit pompous or heavy, the movie is anything but. Buoyed by two wonderful performances from Chester & Malcolm Gets, and two more marvelous ones from Parker Posey (one of her best) and Chris Kattan (whom I have not enjoyed this much since "Monkeybone"), it works because of its quirks. The characters are just off-kilter enough to seem surprisingly real & their life in NYC should ring all kinds of bells for gay New Yorkers. There's plenty of laugh-out-loud humor here, too, and even some good music.

Amazing how it was hard to get this movie, only 7 to 8 in montrose/w.gray(Hou,TX)areas as of this writing 8/06. Generally funny, and hilarous at points, but was it supposed to have been satirical in "gay" humour. The romantic segment was good, & self-esteem good, but it still lacked flow. Well, in the setup I chose to disable the subtitle, but it would not work, and I used a Samsung Home DVD Theatre System(HT D5610) which plays MP3, AllNet, CD, etc.(except for >3hrs dvds ;-) ). HMMMM

and it let me down. This movie is only really good at making the viewer feel one thing, embarrassed. For the first hour and twenty minutes of this movie it seems that all this movie can do is make you cringe at the actions of all it's characters. The acting is stale and there is absolutely no character development. The "jokes" in the movie are repetitive and dull and the whole thing ends with a scene that feels completely out of place for the characters as we know them. Even if you just stop, try to relax and not think too hard this movie is still boring and uncomfortable to watch. There are two or three cute moments, but over all the film is just awful.

This movie was funny! I am in love w/ Malcolm Gets! He's a cutie pie! I used to watch him on Caroline in the City. I would recommend this to everyone except for those bad reviews from people who needs to get a life, probably old - pushing 40 and now, no one would like to have a serious relationship w/ him....too bad!

Being a gay man myself, I was eager to see this movie. The story sounded great, but it really fell flat for me. There were a few funny parts, but overall it was a waste of time. Malcolm Gets is the only reason I am giving this movie 1.5 starts, he was surprisingly genuine. Chris Kattan is not funny at all, and Parker Posey's talent was wasted. Most of all, Chaig Chester was incredibly unappealing and has no comedic instinct. He didn't make me care about him. It's time that we break from the stereotypes and make a "romantic comedy" with two men, not a "gay romantic comedy", as Malcolm Gets so accurately states in the extras. Give me the sincerity and depth of "Brokeback Mountain" any day.

After the disaster of the first date (involving gross bodily functions) during the first few minutes of the film, I had difficulty focusing on the rest of the plot and characters. Throughout the rest I kept longer for more dimension in the characters, and a quicker resolution of the problem, which occurs far too late in the film. Good plots require a better definition and presentation of the crisis, with at least a few facets explored and overcome. Maybe the 'time-jump' is where this got lost. Other reviewers are right, "All Over The Guy" is much better, as this one falls rather flat-ulent...
