It is shot very well, and the actors are great! It is about as real as life gets, meaning there are no punches held back in this movie, they are full force real! Veiwers go to the show, knowing it is going to be a scarey flick...then they complain because it is too scarey. I thought that this movie nailed it on the head...not too gorey, not overdone. But, it does have sick scenes. Well worth the rent..definately not for a younger viewer. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I usually don't see a horror movie in the theater, but I went to see this one and It was ok, some of the parts I could of done without, but it entertained me. I liked the story even though it seems like I've seen it a million times. But I was able to watch it and keep track of what was going on. It moved pretty quickly so that was good. But overall I liked it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

They actually serve to undermine the value or worth of the original. Writer/directors don't care because of the bucks they make and don't care if they add updated gruesome effects or gore though the story line must stay close to the original. Usually, the raw quality is what made them great films to start. Hitchcock, had he lived, would have forbidden the remake of PSYCHO even though it was redone shot by shot exactly as he originally did it.His film, THE BIRDS with digital enhancements of today, would lose the charm of the efforts he made in making it so personal even though it was not his best. The horror genre is so specialized in its "luck" by the first attempts, that only comparisons will be the values given by the viewer.Horror, today, is really much more of a mental thing since we are all so blase about heads being lopped off and blood shooting as if by hydrants.
Monte Python proved this in SEARCH FOR THE HOLY GRAIL. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Like in Evil Dead (she's raped by a vine). I can't think of anything that scares me more. When I watch a horror movie, I don't want a septic, anti-bacterial movie. I watch kids movies for that. I want to be scared. I want to be freaked out. That is why I watch them. It doesn't mean I'm sick, it means I need to deal with the reality. Life isn't clean, life isn't sanitary. Why are the cahracters so cheesy and the gore so silly? Because if it was realistic we REALLY wouldn't be able to take it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
