The sexual content was disturbing and in very bad taste. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

There are words to describe how bad this movie was, problem is limiting to 1000 characters. Believe: extensive radiological testing/isolation led to savage hill people, cannot believe: take newborn grandchild into the desert, keep going off alone despite seeing evidence to you shouldnt, 25 year police veteran would have a six-shooter (wasted four shooting into thin air), not train supermodel looking daughter how to fight. You dont feel compelled to root for the good guys at the end. More than a little irritated that people who made such moronic decisions didnt die a horrible death for my viewing pleasure. The only reason this movie even scored half a star was some of the make-up was amazing and the last ten minutes of the movie had the hacker element. Worst Wes Craven film I have ever seen. We have seen these so called mutants before. I thought the movie attempted to gross the audience out instead of creating fear or anxious anticipation. I don't recall even jumping at any of the attempted shock scenes. I saw the unrated version at home and don't see why people are compaining of the so called rape seen. First of all the only shot is of the mutant attempting to kiss the victim and then face slapping her. I have seen much more graphic disturbing and intense rape scene than this attempted assault.
I understand that one could relive thier PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) but that could be true of the burning man, the shotgun suicide, the gunshot to the head, the disemboweling of the german shephard etc etc. Overall acting was descent for this genre of films. The first 40 minutes of so of the movie are slow and could have been better done.
Overall I rate this a 3/5 film, but would grade it a 3.5/5 as a horror film. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I'm actually a BIG fan of horror movies, so I'm always on the lookout for something that will really send the chills down my spine and have me turning on all of the lights in my place. :) That said, this movie was one of the nastiest I've ever seen. It's nothing but shock and awe amidst an okay plot. I could've done without a lot of it, and when my mother and I watched it, we literally had our eyes shut for a good part of it. But that doesn't mean we couldn't HEAR every gory thing that was going on. If you can stomach EXTREME gore (worse than that in Hostel, in my opinion), then rent it. Otherwise, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. If you like blood & gore than you'll be able to sit through it, otherwise ... don't bother. If you do decide to watch first ask yourself "What would turn mutants into crazed cannibals?" Stuck? The movie doesn't answer that question either even tho I think it's supposed to ... instead of spending 2 hours watching this movie take a stroll instead. You'll be much more satisified. Read More If you have seen so many horror flicks that your mind is actually numbed to the kind of sick junk that this movie shows, this one's for you.. One of the worst movies I have EVER seen. A relative recommended it, and they heard about it for about a hf. hr. after I watched it. I should have left during the part the freaks were sucking on the young mother's breast, but I couldn't leave with that last image stuck in my mind. It was a horrible, gruesome, twisted, (place any other vulgar word here), film, and I am ever so sorry that I contributed my $8 to whoever made it. The worst part was that there were 2 small children in the theater (about 3 yrs. and 5 yrs. old). I really wanted to take those poor kids out and stick Dora or Care Bears on for them...
