Alexandre Aja directs this remake of Wes Craven's film The Hills Have Eyes. In this update, a family is taking a cross-country road trip when their trailer breaks down, leaving them stranded in the desert of New Mexico. There, they find themselves under attack by the savage "hill people," who were deformed by radiation during nuclear testing. ~ Cammila Collar, Rovi

I thought this was a pretty good horror. The gore is pretty gross, but #2 has a lot more and is much better in that respect.

I really wanted to see a good ol' wholesome horror flick, but this was truly idiotic. The beastial sex was offensive and cheap. It degraded women and that seemed to be the theme of the movie, besides how many people could get killed in one movie. Stupid. Two stars only because most of the humanoids at the end were wiped out.

Boy, this one's typical Wes Craven (did the original in the 90's and produced this version of it later). It wasn't insanely out of this world gruesome but it was just eerie enough to make me want to sleep with a shotgun. Ruby will win your heart, if you can see past all the gore. Although I had to sleep with the TV on the cartoon network after I watched this I really want to see the 2nd one to find out why the first one ended the way that it did. Not as bad as the Hellraiser series, a little more scary thatn Basketcase. Fun, but not for the whole family. I did end up using humorous MST3K comments to make it through without really getting freaked out.

A great remake.

truly scary moments and a few gross out scenes make this re-make worth watching. the sets and sense of claustrophobia as the noose tightens on the innocent family and the changing in the wimp to a warrior is breath-taking. you keep wondering "what's going to happen next" and "what would I do". tight, intense, brooding, and scary.

Horribly acted piece of dung. This movie lost me after the random rape and the molestation of the nursing mother scenes. Between the typical screaming, useless women (on screen only to be abused or used for eye candy ) and the over-the-top, corny soundtrack (particularly bad during the last 20 mins) there is really nothing good to be said about this. 107 minutes too long. Don't rent.

An excellent remake of a very good horror movie. One of the few times you can say the remake is as good if not better than the original.

No. Gross. And not really a good movie/plot! It is alright but come on! Canibal hillbillys! I don't like this but i LOVE Wrong Turn. That one looks real this one is corny. it's suspencfull but.... it's not exactly most likely to happen! I Mean Halloween or Black Christmas could really happen. This is... weird. I would rent but not buy..... EVER
