This movie is one of today's rarest story-types: A real mystery. All the elements we viewers need to figure out the solution are presented, carefully, craftilly BUT completely. Unfortunatly, Director Spike Lee insists on being the star of the film. Again and again we are asked, driven or demanded to admire Lee's directorial flourishes, which find their nadir in the scene where Washington "reacts" to the murder of a hostage. Eliminate Spike Lee's "YO! I am DIRECTING these people," and you will find yourself enjoying actors of equal strength parrying attacks that reveal one of Spike's true competencies: Creating cinematic balance between conflicting elements. C. Plummer sure did his part also and Clive Owen had a great part and he pulled it off.

When I started watching it I began to wonder if I was watching the same movie. The plot was to twisty to even understand what the story was. I understand it was about corruption but could not get much more out of it. I do agree there were some good scenes in it but other then that it was a boring movie.
