It lacked a cinematic self-awareness that made so many '80s horror flicks great. The movie takes itself too seriously; no one told it that it was supposed to be a joke. In parts it seems to go out of its way to imitate ideas/themes/scenes that worked in other horror movies, but to no avail. If you're looking for suspense, thrills, and maybe even a little comedy, you'd be better suited to watch an hour and a half of The Golden Girls. "Thank you for being a friend...." If possibe watch the original first, not at all the same movie. This one moved much faster, had a lot of interesting characters but didn't have enough character development (they get plucked off pretty fast). Watching this remake after the original, you get to learn more about the killer or in this case killers that was a mystery in the original. Has some good parts but the ending is stupid. A dissappointing film. The acting was poor and it wasn't even scary. It showed a lot of gore. I almost turned it off several times , but kept hoping it would get better. Then it was over. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreWhen I rented this movie I was expecting it to be really bad but still wanted to see it just in case. I actually really really liked this movie. I have never seen the original but this really was entertaining. The movie explains the events that took place in the house during the madman's childhood and it gives it a creepy vibe. Once the killing begins, they get more and more intense. There are some pretty cool death scenes. They really focus on eyeballs alot in this movie so this is definitely not for the faint at heart. When this movie ended I was very satisfied. It takes you back to the slasher movies of the 70's and 80's. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
