Two people develop an unusual relationship that bends the boundaries of time and place in this romantic fantasy. Kate Forster (Sandra Bullock) is a doctor who lives in a beautiful home by a lake. Forced to move elsewhere, she requests that any correspondence that arrives at the lake house be passed on to her new address. To her surprise, she soon receives a romantic note from Alex Burnham (Keanu Reeves), an architect who lives in the cottage she once called home. However, a look at the postmark on the letter reveals that he lived at the home two years before she did, and that somehow they've come in contact with one another through a space in time. A remake of Lee Hyun-seung's acclaimed Korean romance Il Mare (aka Siworae), The Lake House was the first American production from Argentinean filmmaker Alejandro Agresti; the supporting cast includes Christopher Plummer, Dylan Walsh, and Lynn Collins. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
You have to have imagination, "LOVE" love stories, and believe all things are possible. I have watched this movie at least 6 times, found interesting parts I missed each time. IF you have an Open heart, open mind...you will love this movie
Talk about your long distance romance. True love will prevail at all cost. Imagine planning a dinner date two years in advance. What could go wrong, right? Very imaginative story. Great acting. Great directing. Have you ever cross paths with the love of your life without ever realizing it? My two complaints are, one, the actual movie is badly edited. There are scenes in the movie's trailer that don't appear in the actual movie. Did they just assume you saw the trailer, and removed these scenes to save time? Also, the sound was poorly engineered. I had to adjust the volume to the highest limit to hear the dialogue. Was this movie made during the time period when sound quality in movies was questionable?
This movie was very enjoyable and intriguing. It's a movie so it doesn't necessarily have to be believable just something to think about! The ending was fabulous, of course! If you are looking for a great love story with a twist, this is an excellent movie!
The concept in general was interesting and the acting was decent but the dialog left a lot to be desired - pretty sappy and trite interactions between the main characters. Had the writing been better it would have been a really great film.
Slow, very very slow. It was an EXCELLENT PREMISE, but a poor movie. I knew the movie from start to finish after the first 10 minutes. It was so predictable, I was saying the dialog as characters were saying it. I like a good love story, after all, every movie is a love story, but this was a love story were you didn't care about the results because you knew what it was going to be. Watch "Premonition" instead. Must better movie but be prepared to think.
