This movie hits hard for a married couple. My wife is so much the Jennifer Anniston character doing everything and this movie made it clear to me that I very much do the same as Vaughn's character...and it's clear how much a good woman can be taken for granted. I has very few laughs and fortunately, we watched it late night and my wife fell asleep, or the message of the movie may have lead to my stuff being put on the porch when I came home from work. There is another clear message...appreciate what you have before it's too late! I'm coming home with flowers tonight..."just because". This is NOT a feel good movie, but it DOES present a (valuable) message on relationships if you are open to it.

They are trying to pass this movie off as a comedy in tv advertisments. Don't believe your eyes or your ears. This is one depressing flick. If you can find humor in this, you must be a detective. Worst movie I have seen in a long time. 2 hours of my life gone forever. Sad!

This is a terrible movie. None of the characters in it are likable at all and the worst thing is its not funny at all. It doesn't work as a comedy or a drama.

This was a comedy. I laughed through the entire film. It was true to life and not that depressing. It is called "break-up" so what do you expect it to be about. Great entertainment! Ten times better than Rumor Has It or Derailed for Anniston and I thought it was just as funny as Wedding Crashers and more realistic. See this movie!

I don't generally give "Chick flicks" 4 stars but I just loved this movie! The actual break up scene was very real (and actually rather sad). I thought Vaughn and Aniston did a fantastic job. There is a scene early in the movie, when Aniston's brother is trying to get Vaughn to "be the kick drum". I laughed so hard it turned into a snort! :) Go see this, you won't regret it. I guess you might be disappointed if you like your endings tied up nicely with a neat, little bow.

I liked the Break-Up very much, however, if you are expecting a comedy, you won't find it here. This movie is more like a drama with flashes of comedy thrown in, and once I made my piece with that I VERY much related. Who has not been through a break-up? Jennifer Aniston was wondeful! There is one scene in which her character Brooke is crying in her bedroom to ex Gary (Vaughn) about how hard she tried to make their realtionship work, and my bet is that she was drawing from personal experience, and my heart went out to her. Vaughn was great as well. Yes, he is funny in this, but it is not laugh a minute like Wedding Crashers. He even displays dramatic acting skills I really did not know he had. All in all it is the acting in this film that stands out. I also was not fond of the ending, but it seemed true to real life, instead of one big happy conclusion. Worth the admission price!
