I played with Transformers as a kid but wasn't excited about this movie because I thought it looked stupid. I was pleasantly surprised as it was quite good. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? I was not so excited when it showed up in the mailbox, but was very pleased after watching. The special effects were amazing, the way the robots came to life was awesome. It kept my attention for the entire movie, it never seemed to slow down. I would recommend Transformers to anyone that wants to see a good sci-fi action movie. I felt it lived up to the hype. Great special effects are washed out by too much. A very talented cast is mis-directed (Shia La Beouf is much better than this) as the movie is overburdened with too many characters. This is not a family film - inappropriate for young kids, too insipid a plot for adults, this is geared toward 13 to 15 year-olds. It's a shame too have wasted so much by failing to edit out a lot of "junk". Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This movie was pretty bad unless you just watch movies for the pretty heroine or the special effects. It's dialog and acting by the main characters was awful. The special effects were the only reason this review gave any stars at all. The plot was so pointless that you really don't care by the end of the movie. Just another teen flick. Not at all recommended to anyone other than pre-teens. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This movie has military and government stuff, with adult language. The robots make cliche comments and catchphrases, and hardly show up in the first half of the movie. The dialog was trite, unnatural and poor. You would have to be an extreme fan to be forgiving of the poor work, and you run a huge risk of being disappointed. You might like the effects, but making robots out of all computer graphics is not good. They could have made real robots, and that would have been impressive. The old movies and series were all animated. Why attempt to appeal to adults by having live action? It looks like they made it for the money, not the fans. Remember the car commercials? I grew up watching Transformers, but I can't show this movie to my child, because it's all military and adult in plot, and it's more violent. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I am absolutely stunned at the dismal quality of this film. All the fascinating special effects is wasted on a story line and script that is plainly aimed at the adolescent high-school jock. This is American Pie with robots.
If the current generation of Americans find the plot intriguing ... its nothing but a sad reflection of the pitiful educational system in our country that inhibits creative thinking.
Folks, forget about the trade deficit, we have an intellectual deficit in our country ! A line from the opening sequence jumps to mind - "already too late" ! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
