I guess this movie is stupid. BUT, if you grew up in the 80's and witnessed the beginning of Hip Hop culture... you must own this. They will keep your spirit young. If you are pushing 40's and are an American, you should have Krush Groove, Purple Rain, Beat Street.. all that fun cheesy movies. Good time.. :)

This movie is a great way to see the beginnings of the hip hop movement. The Rock Steady Crew against the New York City breakers showdown at the Roxy gives me goosebumps everytime. You get to see all sides of hip hop. The Graffiti, Breakin, DJ'ing and Rap. See early glimpes of Kool Moe D and Afrika Bambaata as well as others. Forget garbage like Breakin the Electro Boogaloo crap. This is the one to see. All the way down to the Puma tracksuits and the fat shoe laces. IF you want to more gritty look at the hip hop culture, look at the low budget classic called Wild Style that predates Beat Street. Look for a young Crazy Legs from the Rock Steady Crew!

I grew up in the Bronx so watching this was defininatly a flash back in time. But the movie is showing it's age from the clothes to the slang. Wasn't the best of actors either but I pretty sure this was most of them their 1st movie including Rae Dawn Chong. This movie is more about b-boyz and breakin. Krush Groove is more about hip-hop and stood the test of time better. By the way, what ever happened to "US Girls"? LOL
