Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) returns to the screen for another round of supernatural adventures on the high seas in this spirited sequel to the 2003 Disney hit, which re-teams original director Gore Verbinski with original screenwriters Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio. As Will (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) prepare to exchange vows at the altar, their wedding plans hit rough waters with the arrival of sea-bound scallywag Jack Sparrow. It seems that Sparrow owes a substantial blood debt to half-octopus sea captain Davy Jones (Bill Nighy), and that the only way for the flamboyant sea rover to elude the wrath of his otherworldly pursuer is to seek the aid of mysterious and powerful voodoo priestess Tia Dalma (Naomie Harris), whose ability to resurrect the dead and gaze into the future may provide just the advantage needed to avoid a waterlogged fate in the locker of his legendary nemesis. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
Lots of fun and mind candy for Pirate affectionados. Engaging story telling, Depp's practiced swagger, and several reminders of the near non-stop action reminescent of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Suprise ending to a sword fight. Enjoying the behind-the-script insights from the writers' commentary.
Though this film isn't better than the first movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is still an amazing sequel. The visual effects become even better, while the rest of this movie is just wicked cool.
I did not think that Pirates of the Caribean: Dead Mans Chest was going to be very good because of all the other reviews with 1 and 2 stars. Well I guess they were watching something else because they could not of been watching this movie. Its A LOT BETTER than the first one, I gave it 5 stars because it is that GOOD, it is a FUN MOVIE to watch and at 2 1/2 hours I wish it was longer. I can not wait for the next one to come out.
Jack was not a nearly as funny or personable as the first one. This movie seemed to drag on and on and on. Even my son who loved the first one and wanted to see this so bad..was dissapointed. Hopefully the next one will be more like the first
Mind you I normally like chick flicks and I go along to *guy movies* - I truely enjoyed PC1 and thought it was cleverly written. Jack Sparrow was up to the same ole same ole and was funny (in #2) but it was too much of Davy Jones. Movie seemed to drag on and was not as funny as the last one. I'm glad I saw it and I will see #3 when it comes out, but I really liked the first one a lot better.
this is one of the beat movies there will ever be. both orlando bloom and johnny depp were great. the first pirates of the caribbean was awsome but this one was way better. a must see movie of the year!!
The grand continuation of the epic Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. With the legendary ending of the Curse of the Black Pearl and the loss of Geoffrey Rush as a lead role I was concerned about the future of Pirates of the Caribbean, but the trilogy loses no steam as it brings Bill Nighy on board as the villainous Davy Jones. If Pirates of the caribbean was a sandwich, the best sandwich ever created, Dead Man's Chest is the delicious meat between two slices of flawless bread.
