I read the book about it first and was quite interested in the movie. PSH is excellent! I was really inspired to learn everything I could about him and the actual murders. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreI typically like films that have substance and character and I expected that from this movie. Unfortunately, I didnt get that. From the beginning, the story line is slow and you keep thinking...well..it will get better. BUT as you wait for the film to speed up (a fraction) you are tortured by the voice of the main character. His voice is that of a cartoon character and you expect Droopy or Foghorn Leghorn to enter the scene at any time. The sound of it travels your spine! After a few scenes I could take no more...and ejected the DVD, promptly sending it back from whence it came. Maybe I should have waited..I dont know but the main character was beyond believable due to the voice. I understand that this character was supposed to have a child-like(?) voice but this was a bit over the top. I was disappointed and had truly hoped for a better screenplay. There is eccentric and there is just plain obnoxious
this character falls into the latter category.

I enjoyed the contrast in this movie detailing the opposite sides of Capote's character. The movie is simple, but still enjoyable. The true-to-reality writing in the movie gives it depth. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Being from Kansas I was more familiar with the settings, surroundings and story but I was still intrigued from start to finish. Hoffman truly deserved his Oscar as he does a remarkable job of depicting how this story haunted Truman Capote. Hoffmans acting is great, very captivating. The story line is slow to the point of going to sleep. We watched about 40 min then shut it off. Good luck if yoy can sit throught this disaster. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
