A riviting biopic about writer Truman Capote and how he came to write one of the greatest American novels, "In Cold Blood". Hoffman gives a phenomenal performance as the care-free New York journalist whose life becomes forever changed by his association with two killers. Catherine Keener is surprisingly effective as Harper Lee, and strangely she doesn't seam to be making any effort. The cinematography is so sumpstous I'm sorry I hadn't seen it in the theatre when I had the chance. Now, comparing and contrasting with "Infamous": "Capote" trumps "Infamous" in every way; the only remote simalarity is the plot. "Infamous" is silly, ridiculous; a showcase of mediochre performances. "Capote" is far more professional, serious, realistic, effective, and riviting. Some scenes sent chills up my spine.

I was born in the mid 60's but even so, didn't know that much about Truman Capote. I learned so much watching this movie! I had heard that he was friends with Harper Lee, but didn't realize that the character Dil (To Kill A Mockingbird) was based on Truman as a child. I agree with most of the reviews...Philip Seymour Hoffman is exquisite in this role, but the movie itself isn't all that great. I shouldn't say it isn't great...just not as good as I had expected. Of course, it's a true story...not a film that was made to entertain. All in all, I'm glad we rented it.

I am an avid reader, yet I have nothing by Capote. Philip Seymour HOffman was absolutely wonderful, as were all the actors in this film. It introduced me to an author I was familiar with but helped me understand him better. I believe I will be hitting the used book stores in search of his books to add to my collection. A remarkable film, very well written. It is not "In your face" but delicately unfolds the story that allows the viewers to savor everything little thing.

Excellent performance by Mr. Hoffman. An amusing glimpse of Mr. Capote's interesting persona. Movie was a little slow but captivating. After this movie I feel I need to read 'In Cold Blood', the story about which he was obsessed and took for 4 years to write and, of course, the inspiration for this movie. Definitely a 4 star movie because of Hoffman's performance.

We didn't like this movie at all. It was long and the main character was very hard to understand.
