Lot's of slang used, just like in the days of Bogart as Dashiell Hammett's Sam Spade...so yes, following some of the dialouge can be a challenge, but I really like that style. Smart mystery. The highly stylized dialog takes some getting used to at first - but once I was down with the lingo (and it took me a bit) I enjoyed this new age Noir film. The use of the Noir style in a teen-drama setting was clever. If you are not a fan in the first place (or at least familiar) with Noir films of past, you may have trouble enjoying this or seeing where it's strangeness is coming from, otherwise I think a film that can be appreciated for it's intent. I think the script was poorly written. So much slag you just pretend you know what the heck they are saying. Also the music used in this film is irritating and annoying.
