Mitch Albom wrote the screenplay for this made-for-television adaptation of his best-selling story, which offers a novel perspective on life, death, and the meaning of our existence. Eddie (Jon Voight) is an elderly maintenance man who has spent most of his life keeping the rides at an amusement park in good repair; Eddie has had a hard life, sustaining a serious injury during World War II and losing his wife, and he often wonders what the purpose behind it all is. One day, Eddie is killed while trying to save a young girl who has fallen from a ride, and in the afterlife, he's greeted by five people he knew during his lifetime, who explain to him what the key moments in his life were, and what was to be learned from them. The Five People You Meet in Heaven also features Steven Grayhm (who plays Eddie as a younger man), Ellen Burstyn, Jeff Daniels, Michael Imperioli, and Callum Keith Rennie. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Very good acting. A good solid movie. A different storyline than I have seen in the past. It is a deep emotional story, but what the heck, we need these once in awhile.

Couldn't watch it through to the end, this movie was so slow and boring, it was unbelievable. I read some of the reviews that tell you to stick through to the end, but that was beyond me...

This was a wonderful movie. It shows how truly connected we all are and how you can touch someone's life, in small or large ways, without ever even knowing it. I think I'm going to have to buy it.

"5 people you meet in heaven" in reminds me of "It's a wonderful Life" in that it uses guides to show the protagonist how valuable his life really was. Neither main character believed they lived a worthy life until they were forced to step out of the tunnel vision of human existence and see the truth from the broader view of being outside the experience. It really touched me from the first scene and made me look at my own life.

Very compelling fantasy about the after-life. Jon Voight is a fine actor and makes you care about his character. There are some disturbing images in the war scenes but not bad enough to make it unwatchable.

It was OK, I didn't really find it as good as some of the others. I don't know how old the movie is but it seemed kind of old and simple.

Each of the five persons interaction with Jon Voight is extremly long and makes the movie drag, I had to fast forward 5 min intervals and I just stopped the movie.
