This movie was not what I expected. I expected more of the character but was pleasantly surprised that the movie did explain the complete story on his life.

This was a good role for Michael Imperioli. And to be quite truthful he hasn’t been seen very much with the exception of “ The Soprano’s”, matter of fact there were a few Soprano cast members in this poorly told film. This is just another half baked or under cooked docudrama....and this list is unfortunately growing. Docudrama the likes of “The Insider” and “Black Hawk Down” are far and few in coming to the DVD market place. Another good one is “One Trick Pony” but this is yet to be released on DVD, and remains only available in VHS form. There are so many holes in this story that the film barely stays a float. This trailer boasts a sexy poker flix with lots of table action....My movie take....ALL FIZZ...AND NO ZEEK

Most of the acting is good and the movie is definitely not boring, but I was left unsatisfied. I was disappointed that there wasn't more exposition of his gambling. Also, there was no real explanation as to why Stu was always broke, since he was such a successful gambler. His disintegration wasn't dramatized well, either.

I thought i would hate this "guy's movie", but boy was I wrong! This is for anyone who's ever loved, known or been related to an addict of any kind: it (the addiction) takes your talent, your future, and your relationships and just trashes them. Imperioli is incredible as the unbalanced, tragic card genius Stu Ungar. People who say he's unsympathetic don't get it: that's just how addicts act. Pat Morita and Michael Nouri were great, too, as people who use Stuey for his talents. Highly recommended.
