This film was excellent. Filmed in B/W to provide extra realism. Strathaim was Edward Morrow. I doubt the younger generation would find this much more than boring. As for those of us that lived through this era, it was recreated in exact detail. Even so, this movie provides a history lesson that shows what happens when we, the public. allow a politician(s) to blindly guide us when we react from fear. The lesson is as important today as it was when this Senator was finally brought to heel by a group of five reporters lead by Morrow. It's a shame it won't be seen by more but as Morrow stated at his retirement dinner, the film industry, be it television or motion pictures, can and will be used in one of two ways. To educate or to hide from reality. Sadly, he may have won his battle (for us) against McCarthy but did he win the battle to direct his vision of a needful medium?

Great political movie. Can't believe a they turned out a PG movie with this kind of drama, intrigue and such. Has you rooting for the lead character all along.

This film is a history lesson about one of the darkest hours of the 20th century. Freedom of speech was on the line, and it took a journalist's conviction to expose the charlatan behind the evil. Senator Joseph McCarthy was on a witch hunt; Edward R. Murrow hunted a witch of his own and exposed his lack of credibility to the nation. That's what journalists used to do... unlike those of today who pander to the politicians. Five stars plus for this film!

This movie should be viewed by every American. It shows just how far the Government can go if left unchecked by the American citizenry. I really got a lot out of the behind the scene look at how television was born, and the "Social Contract" that was established by CBS and the viewers of that time. By telling the news like it is and not what people want to hear. I really think we need more open and honest broadcasting form television. Maybe we can learn something from this movie.

It's no surprise that Hollywood would create a left-wing anti-estsablishment flick. The reason the movie is good is because the acting is impecable and the story is compelling. Plus, I cannot think of another film (with adult themes) that doesn't use sex or violence to keep the viewers attention. Well here you go.

And those now who are involved in goverment and politics, or enjoy occasional propaganda. But i thought it was great though!

Good: David Straithirn as Ed Murrow - great perfomance. I also really liked the eloquent snippets of Murrow's speech. Mediocre: pacing of the film. It dragged at times.

This is a movie that doesn't make a lot of sense to the overall population because most of them are too young to even know who Joe McCarthy or Ed Murrow were. I understand what Clooney is trying to do here--draw a parallel to what is happening in Washington today. However it is the Democrats today trying to skewer George Bush without the facts that is disturbing. they distort the facts to suit their own purpose much as McCarthy did in the 50s. It is annoying to see all of the smoking going on--I know it went on but it is still annoying. This film didn't make much money and maybe that says it all--Hollywood is totally out of touch with real America.

There was something off about this movie. It was documentary type which I have no problem with, and David Straiham as Murrow was amazing. Heres the problem Clooney misses. This represents when media went bias. McCarthy was a nut! nobody disagrees with that, and had the audience just been exposed to footage of him consistently putting his foot in his mouth, then he would have self-destructed. Murrow on the other hand and his opinion belong not on news, but an editorial page of a newspaper. It comes off as news, when actually its an opinion, as right at the opinion was it was his job to deliver information. This is not good and sort of leaves viewers intelligent enough to analyze that the crazyness of fox news today, derives from people who were trying to do good, but gave a viewpoint rather than information. Murrow should have become an activist instead of a newsman, because I don't see him accomplishing anything as a result.
