Beethoven is depicted as a dirty common city peasant type who is obsessed by the sounds of music in his head. Ed Harris does a wonderful acting job, and the sound track using Beethoven's works is marvelous. In fact, the presentation of Beethoven's 9th symphony brought tears to my eyes, it was so beautiful. People who do not love Beethoven's music are not actually human.

This movie was painful to watch. It was either poor acting or poor directing. Either way timing was way off and came across as a very forced effort. It could have been done better.

Fantastic picture! Loved almost all of it except the ending, which was kind of weak. Other than that the music gave my goosebumps. I would recommend this movie for anyone.

Poorly acted and so unbelievable. The scene where Beethoven relies on Anna to help him conduct is ridiculous. I also don't understand why anyone would choose to take an amazing life and fictionalize it so poorly. Skip and just watch Amadeus again to get your musical fix, or at the very least, Immortal Beloved.

My daughter has a degree in piano performance so....I listened to a lot of Beethoven. Got excited about the movie but then it turn out to be a lot of fiction that bother me.

This movie had wonderful music, but that's about it. It ended too abruptly and really had no clear plot line.
