Read More It takes a little while to capture your attention, and the Irish accents are hard to understand sometimes, but this is a very moving film, well acted, and nothing like I'd seen before. The R rating is due to nothing more than the occasional "F" word, so I let my teens watch this and they were moved by the subject matter which is what I was hoping for. It has some cute moments, but overall it is definitely a drama. You experience the difficulties of the handicapped who only wish to live an average life like any other well-bodied person. It is touching and inspirational. Get out the kleenex for the second half. If you like this you will love "Elling" which is much more comedic, but with the same premise, though with the mentally ill. I had never heard of it but had been searching for movies with James McAvoy in them and stumbled upon it. Wow! I don't know how I missed this one; maybe it didn't get much attention... if not it should have. How it opens the eyes to what it must be like to just want to be able to do the normal things that most of us take for granted. Very well acted; sweet and heartbreaking. Read More Much in the same tone as Music Within, the people with the disabilities in this film are often the ones mentally navigating around perfectly normal. This movie charms, it engages, it's very well done and really makes you see life through a handicapped person's eyes. I'm convinced that James McAvoy can play anything. I could have done with a little less of the F word, but other than that, it was marvelous! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

This is not going to entertain you. This is definately a movie that makes you look at life differently. We laughed and cried, and left this film with a new appriciation of life. This is a very well-made film that will enlighten as well as entertain. Definately add it to your "Must See" list. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
