In fact, he made the comment it was over too soon. He also understood the main character learns about friendship. Alert: There are a couple of bad words used but overall it was okay. I suppose I led myself to believe it and I am thinking they used the penguins to sell this movie. They are not very related. This is a fun children's film that has a good moral. The hero of the story finds a new purpose in life and help's his hero find one, too. It is about friendship and the importance of winning versus playing fair. Well, unless they think doc umentaries are good ... Read More When I watched Surf's Up I was prepared for anything but I wasn't expecting it to be bad. It was. I can honestly say that kids will hate this. Why? Well, unless they think doc umentaries are good they'll be bored. I was bored.The whole film is an animated docu mentary with fake interviews, bad jokes and no exhilaration 50 minutes of interviews and 25 minutes of plot. Doesn't sound fun, huh? I love 90% of the animated films I've seen. LOVED. But Surf's Up isn't part of that majority. It tries too hard to be realistic in every detail. Whether its dialogue or story, it just wants to be real. It doesn't work when you try to combine the real world and fantasy world. Pixar is the master of realism in cartoons but they know when to stop. I don't think its just a misfire with kids, its no fun for adults either. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? But I ended up finding it very boring & dull. I ended up turning it off after only like 10 minutes. I was going to recommend this to my grandkids, but not after watching it. My 14 year grandduaghter loves penguins & had wanted to see it, but I'm glad she didn't. It would've been a waste of money & time. Oh well. Live & learn!!!!!!!!!!!!!
