We enjoyed Surf's up, but didn't LOVE it or feel the need to watch it again. The adults sat and watched the movie all the way through but the 4 and 7 year old (both had already seen it) got bored and left to play in the other room about halfway through the movie. If you're looking for a good family night movie this fits the bill. If you're looking for the next kids "keeper" for the DVD shelf, maybe not. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreI thought this would be another insult to an adult's intelligence-kid's movie, but I was totally wrong! In fact, I think young adults would appreciate this movie more than kids or older adults. Yes it is animated, and yes it is a family film, but there are some very adult references in it but the humor is quick-witted and fast-paced. Most people will probably take the wave FX for granted as well. Think about all the hours of surfer video the animators most likely had to watch and emulate in the surfing scenes, which are plentiful. Read MoreThe animation was amazing but the story was very lame and short lived without any real depth. Also, it's really annoying that animators have been trying to use penguins to make money ever since the success of 'March of the Penguins'(which was incredible!). Also, "Happy Feet" had just as good animation as this film but a far superior, in-depth story with a moral message that kids and adults could learn from. Read MoreI couldn't get this movie back to the store fast enough! A reality format animation, I should have read about the movie more before I rented it. I had to start the movie over because I thought I had selected a special feature but come to find out I was wrong, I was actually watching the beginning of the movie. If you have nothing else to do and just want some backgound noise in the house rent this movie. I surfed the internet while watching this and my wife read a magazine.
